The Harbor Highlands Resident Association

The Harbor Highlands Resident Association (HHRA) began meeting this summer at the Copeland Community Center. The key goals of the HHRA include: empowering residents to help this revitalized neighborhood to continually  become fun, healthy and safe. Assist in creating programming to ensure there are healthy, educational and fun activities in the neighborhood for kids and adults.

During the initial meeting of the HHRA the HRA HOPE VI program hired a Community Building consultant from the Seattle HRA who also has a major HOPE VI revitalization development. Ms. Joy Bryngelson and HOPE VI resident Daphne Schneider, came to help facilitate two days of community building with both HRA staff and the HHRA. Though there were literally hundreds of ideas, some of the high priorities are described below.

      • Monthly newsletter
      • Monthly Community Business Meetings
      • Assistance with Employment
      • Physical Improvements such as: better street lighting and winter snow plowing
      • Neighborhood based Variety and Talent Shows
      • A Community Garden
      • Neighborhood Watch
      • Community Store

The HHRA Will also be publishing a newsletter on a monthly or quarterly basis. The newsletter will be written by Harbor Highlands residents.  If you would like to help write the newsletter or want to put an article in the newsletter, please call Susan Jordan at :218-529-6357.
